Maxxi - National Museum of the Arts of the XXI Century

MAXXI is the first National Museum devoted to contemporary creativity. A majestic work of architecture with ground-breaking and stunning shapes, designed by Zaha Hadid, MAXXI was conceived as a large cultural campus and unveiled in 2010. It creates and showcases exhibitions of art and architecture, design, photography, fashion, as well as film series, dance and theatre performances. MAXXI’s 29,000 square meters include an auditorium, a large outdoor plaza, a research centre - with library and archives - a bookshop, a cafeteria and a restaurant/bar. MAXXI’s permanent collection is displayed on rotation, along with temporary exhibitions. Permanent works include installations by Anish Kapoor, Sol Lewitt, Maurizio Mochetti.
