Colosseum/Roman Forum/Palatine Hill

This archaeological area is the heart of the ancient city. Here you can admire an exceptional stratification of historic and artistic monuments which mirror the life and growth of ancient Rome. The Flavian Amphitheatre, which arose on the site of the artificial lake of the Golden House and was inaugurated by Emperor Titus in 80 A.D, was the biggest stadium in the ancient world, which played host to shows, gladiators and games until the 6th century A.D.
